‘A 1:1 replica of L.A. pop group the Carpenters’ garden at
9828 Newville Avenue, Downey, California – the home
where Karen Carpenter passed away due to
complications from anorexia nervosa. I read the house
was up for sale, with plans to be demolished.
I contacted people who were attending a final
open-house through a Carpenters online forum,
requesting photos for reference. I decided if the garden
was no more, then I could remake it in studio to be the
last with Karen. The day after filming, just like the real
garden, mine was destroyed too.’
